T’ÍT’Q’ET

CHIEF AND COUNCIL

TERMS OF REFERENCE 

T’ít’q’et Chief and Council’s mandate is to ensure that good government is delivered to the community. 

Chief and Council will: 
  • Oversee T’ít’q’et Administration and staff, program services, committees, ad hoc committees and boards.
  • Review and approve all fiscal year operating budgets.
  • Working with Traditional Council regarding natural resources.
  • Oversee all matters related to reserve lands.
  • Work with youth.
  • Oversee all Capital Projects.
  • Conduct Government to Government relations regarding programs and services.
  • Ensure sound accounting and financial management for all T’ít’q’et programs and services, including Band revenues, Taxation, Traditional Council and Elders Council Budgets.
  • Create committees, boards, etc., to assist in the service delivery of programs to members.
  • Work in cooperation with the Traditional Council on matters related to family, policing and health services and other services as required.
  • Develop policies and procedures.
  • Make reports at general community meetings.
  • Work with Elders Council.

Chief and Council will work in cooperation with the T’ít’q’et Traditional Council.  Both Councils will

meet jointly at least four times a year to ensure good communications and problem solving.
